Engagement area "Smart Operations"

Our DSI engagement portfolio includes the following Operations functions:

  • Customer journey (or customer operations associated)
  • Supply chain management (logistics, S&OP, procurement, etc.),
  • Shopfloor operations (e.g., DDMRP and LLMOps),
  • IT operations (e.g., Ops Cloud infrastructure, AI / Data Analytics).

Please find selected DSI Smart Operations topics below.

Why LLMOps is the new kid on the block …

Let's take Health Care as an example. When talking about Health Care innovation, new drug development such as mRNA vaccines is typically in focus. But Health Care Innovation is not limited to R&D. Daily Health Care operations are at scale. So, what`s next in Health Care operations of Pharma or in Care delivery of hospitals:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLM) help to secure operations quality in the future
  • LLM makes self organization happen and thus helps to cope with higher complexity of individualized medicine like Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) as well as hybrid, inpatient and outpatient services

LLM-based Operations (LLMOps) are the future, where ever physicians or operators decide to use the latest technology and the complexity of (medical) decisions allows for an effective use of such. The speed of implementing LLMOps depends on three key factors:

  1. Health Care players with a high number of good-practice examples and thus big data do have the chance to learn faster than others.
  2. Relevant data must be mobilized by a strategy-led architecture and proper infrastructure. Cloud will help to gather and analyze data along the patient journey or value chain . S/4 HANA will play a significant role in here because ERP data are vital to success.
  3. Data governance must evolve, not necessarily being LLMOps-compatible today. This is asking for a real change process where tech and med cultures come together, appreciate each other, and create a new, innovation-driven digital health care mindset.

Shop Floor Optimization

Digitalization offers a lot of opportunities to optimise operations. DSI combines both established levers like OEE, Maintenance, etc. and new technology like IoT, MES, etc. Moreover, by new PPDS concepts such as DDMRP we facilitate that your operations supports your overall digitalization strategy and is prepared. Our teams combine hands-on operations experience with practical IT knowledge and implementation capabilities.

DDMRP approach of DSI:

Predictive S&OP

Sales and operations planning is a key value driver for operations. While new technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning suggest that planning becomes easier, reality shows increasing challenges. Moreover, the current S4HANA migration of many companies ask for a clear take on what the benefit is and which vendors (IBP or others) are the best for which industry. But even more important, what is the business benefit of all these efforts and how to optimize in terms of an end-to-end approachDSI shares expertise and knows proven solutions

 Supply Chain Organization

DSI research results show that 4 out of 5 supply chain organizations lack a proper supply chain governance. Digitalization makes this structural challenge even more relevant. DSI, therefore, has developed a proven tool set for developing supply chain organizations, effectively. Based on well-established supply chain models, your organization can prepare to coordinate your supply chain in an end-to-end mode, effectively, including capability development and change management where necessary.
